Camping Trip – Angus Beven
Well i will just say the fishing was a tad slow but ended catching a few cod which was good and here is a timeline of how we went.

DAY 1
well we arrived at our campspot at about 11:30. we unpacked and set up our tents and swags then gathered the rods and had a look around on the bank. there was a couple of nice logs and holes i tryed, getting a few bites but no hookups. went for a fish in the boat and was flicking lures while looking for any good spots we could try later on. got a couple of solid hits on a berkley frenzy but still no hookup! didn’t get anything for about 4 hours of fishing between 4 of us.
DAY 2
got up out of my swag, had breakfast, set up my rod and went for a fish of the bank. didn’t get a touch! at this point i was thinking that the fishing might be a bit tough for the next couple of days. went out for a fish out on the boat with a bit of bait seeing that the fish weren’t liking our lures. it was very hot so we went under a tree for a bit of shade my dad sat his bait in and when i was putting a bit of bait on my hook, WHACK! his drag went screaming and he was on. after putting a bit of a fight my dad landed a nice 60cm murray cod. he was stoked and so was i that he had caught a nice fish but also to go with that fish was bragging rights! after safely returning the fish to the water we kept fishing for another couple of hours but no other fish landed. went back to camp had a swim and went for another bank fish but no other fish wanted to bight.

DAY 3
took a bit longer for me to get out of my swag being tired from the previous couple of days of fishing, had breakfast and lazed around the camp for a couple of hours. went out in the boat. we headed for a small island we could fish off. i had feeling that we might get a cod off there.my brother chucks his bait near a log and looked the other way for second he got absolutely smashed and then nothing. the fish snapped of 25lb like nothing.then, my mate chucked his lure in under the log, gave it a few flicks then SLAM! he got smashed by what he thought was a good fish but after a very short struggle he got snagged up. we had to ster the boat over near the log and the cod came out from the log. soon after he landed a nice little murray cod going about 40cm. kept trying for another half an hour then tryed upstream. saw a nice looking log so headed for it then tyed up to it. my broher chucked his bait in and got slammed by what he thought was a little cod. soon after it was by the boat and it was a cracking trout cod after quick photo and measure it was released back to his home. the pressure was on me now to catch one! after trying a couple of more spots my dad said “this is the last stop for today”. we pulled into a nice little bank and i thought i might walk up to a nice looking log. so i chucked my Berkley Frenzy next to the log let it sink and suddenly my line went tight and i was onto a nice fish. after it having a couple of good runs, my dad drove the boat over and netted it. it was very fat 58cm cod. i was happy that i had finnally got one and the pressure was off. soon after went back to the camp spot had dinner and went to bed.

DAY 4
it was the last day so we got up at 5:30, had brekfast than set off for another cod. we went upstream hoping to get lucky. so we headed for a good looking log. we tyed up. soon after my mate had landed a dirty carp, so he killed it then threw it up on the bank. i then casted just before a nice log, sat my rod in the holder and was looking away then i heard the drag screamming. i lifted my rod up and after a good, hard fight with this fish it finnally gave up to the net and was in the boat. measured it and it was a solid 57 cm cod. took some pictures then released it back to its log. kept fishing for another couple of hours but only managed a carp and that was it. soon after packed up and headed for home.
