Fishing After the Floods

Queensland has had plenty of rain so far this year. It's great to see so many of our lakes rising or full. The month after a rise can provide some of the hottest action when fishing the newly submerged structure. Bass in the south and barra in the north will respond well to a range of lures. Reaction baits like the Nitro Spinnerbaits are ideal for searching for bass. Flash, vibration and the built in rattles will draw the fish in the stained waters. When bass are holding shallow, they will respond well to surface lures. The Frenzy poppers are a proven topwater lure. In the barra lakes try some big, noisy crankbaits or 5" Powerbait Mullets if the water is reasonably clear. Flooded lakes are great fun. It's not often that we get to experience fishing them - so don't miss out on some of this fantastic action.
