So, you want more!

Wow, the response to the MF40 and the new LE Japanese baitcast reels has been amazing. Well, there is more good news on the reel front and herabouts you will see the all new Abu Garcia Morrum IVCB baitcasters. Morrum is the river that flows through the Abu plant in Sweden, so that's the heritage part of the reel, IVCB is an abbreviation for infinitely variable control brake. This control eliminates the taking down of a sidepalte to access brake blocks and is more refined than normal magnetic brakes.
For the technically minded here are the stat's
Weighs 210grams, machined frame and sideplates, Extra super Duralumin spool, IVCB x 4 brakes,Super Duralamin gears, carbon matrix drag, 10 HPCR stainles bearings, Infinite A/R bearing.Capacity approx 200m/2kg mono or 300m 3kg braid.
Australia will only see the right hand wind version in size 1600 in the red or blue definition.

Should be available around July, retail will be in the mid $700's.

Book em now 'cos there are only a few coming.

cheers, Dinger.

MF40 update

Thursday last was an outdoors office day! Michael Guest, Marc Huisken and I travelled up to Lake St Clair with a few [the only 7 in captivity] Mf40's in hand and some well respected Bass lures to use as control baits.

Awesome weather, bar around 1016 but quite cool. The Lake has risen quite some metres and islands are appearing where kangaroos once grazed. Clear water and a slow bite over the 2.5 hours we were there.

Long story short, fishing the grass verges that have recently been covered we had seven strikes boated five bass and all were on the MF40. The control lures accounted for zero activity.

Attached a few pics of the lures attached to some nice Bass.

I'm thinking a lot more outdoor office days are required!

cheers, Dinger.

PS, jump on to the PF web site, www. purefishing.com.au and click on Purefishing TV and you will see a short video of the mornings events. Many more video's on the PFTV and PF Youtube site as well, check em out.

And just one more........

The last blog detailed the new and exciting release of the Limited Edition Revo baitcaster reels.

This blog details another new Revo that will be a standard stock model.

The new Orra SX and STX low profile reels boast many of the exceptional features found on the more expensive versions, such as the one piece anti-distortion alloy frame, powerful carbon matrix drag, 7+1 bearings, standard 6'4:1 ratio and fast cast thumbar.

This new model comes in at around the low $200's retail and features a new spool/casting control.

Situated in the left side plate [fast take down] is a plate on the spool end that has six brake tabs that are selectable in two formats.
Three tabs are marked "PITCH" and three tabs are blank. The Pitch tabs are selectable as free floating brake blocks and will activate as soon as the spool is engaged in the cast. These tabs are best suited to casting light weights as they will exert spool control at slower spool speeds and lower inertia.
The three unmarked tabs can be activated for heavier weight casting where spool speeds and inertia is higher for longer. These tabs are spring loaded and require the higher spool speed to operate.
Both sets can be activated in tandem for ultimate spool control, and in conjunction with the right side plate spool control knob, overrun should be all but eliminated.

Nice looking reel, affordable and functional. Expect to see these reels in stores by mid June 09.

Happy casting, Dinger

More Toys for the Boys

Over the last twelve to eighteen months, the ABU brand has seen some very good ne products added to both the spin rel and baitcaster ranges.

Notably, the Revo low profile baitcast reels have found a solid following as a reliable, high perormance baitcast reel for everything from bas and yellowbelly fishing through to barra and bigger.

Attached is the latest Limited Edition series reels about to land. Thes two reels were spec'd in Japan, the home of everything awesome in fishing tackle these days.

The Aorora [rainbow] model features Hi-D EVA paddle grips, bowed handle and star wheel with click, ported lightweight spool running on special long spin bearings, lightweigh frame, titanium depsosition rainbow coating on the sideplates [very hard] thumb-bar cast, 7.1:1 hi-speed ratio, rulon super smooth drag, and 9+1 bearings. Casting is controlled by way of an external dial on the left side plate that adjusts the linear magnetic brake system within the reel.

The Akatsuki [gold] version features Hi-D Eva paddle grips, bowed handle and star wheel with click, ported lightweight spool running on long spin bearings, lithweight frame, titanium depsosition gold finish, 7.1:1 hi-speed ratio, rulon super drag, 9+1 bearings. Casting is controlled on this reel by way of selectable brake blocks within the left side of the reel.

Coarse casting control on both reels is by way of the usual right side spool control knob.

These reels are not cheap and you will be looking at $500 or more when they arrive.

If good looks, exceptional performance and something a little left of centre in a lightweight package is what you are looking for, jump in to your local tackle store and ask them to earmark one of the awesome reels. They are limited in production, first in best dressed.

And now for something new!

There is no doubt that going to work each day at Purefishing beats the hell out of a normal office job.
My office can be of the air-conditioned type but very often is the outdoor one and testing new product is certainly a perk.

Very soon now, you will se a fantastic new range of softbaits that have undegone extensive testing and refining over the past few months.
This new bait is the MF40 soft vibe. A development from the guru of jig and bait design, Matt Fraser.

You should see these hitting shelves by mid June but for now, let me describe the features and benefits of these superb new baits.

40mm in length and will be available in two weights - MF40L is 5.9 grams and MF40H is 8.6 grams.
Eight colours will be the initial offering and this is set to expand to more colours later this year.
Watermelon Pearl, Gold Ayu, Sunrise, Red Dawn, Hot Blue, Midnight Tiger, Silver Back Shiner and Mango Ripple will be the first colours to come out.
Each MF 40 comes rigged with chemically sharp Yakiba hooks hanging on Yakiba rings [Yakiba is exclusive to Purefishing]
MF40's have a 3D eye for maximum reaction from the predator and come with the saltwater Powerscent formula for more bite time.

Designed to flutter on the fall and vibrate tightly on the retrieve, testing has given up bream, flathead, whiting, school jew and bass and more testing is about to commence in freshwater for trout and yellowbelly. Results will be posted as they come to hand.

The best thing about these baits is you will get TWO in each packet for retail pricing around the $12 mark.

Check out the pic's attached. I'm off to do some more bass fishing and hopefully will add some catch shots later.
