Andrew McGovern
Andrew McGovern first started fishing when his Dad had him casting spinners for trout, yellowbelly and silver perch in the early 70s. He spent most of his teens and twenties land based game fishing off the rocks while breaking it up with sessions on the beach and trips to the Snowy mountains chasing trout.
Anthony Wishey
Anthony has got competitive fishing running through his blood as he started competitive fishing with the Victory Amateur Fishing as an eight year old. Wishey was Junior Champion from 1983 to 1986, Reserve Grade Champion from 1989 to 1991 and was competing in A Grade since 1992, finally winning the A Grade and Club Championship in 1997 and 1999, as well as the Alvey Angling Excellence Award three times in 1991, 1997 and 1999. Wish has represented South East Queensland at State Titles and Queensland at Australian Titles in Estuary and Surf fishing.
Chris Britton
Chris has been in or around competitive fishing since 1987, when he joined the Arana Leagues Fishing Club as a nipper. During his career at Arana Hills his highlights were 3 Junior Club Championships, 1 senior Club Championship and a runner-up QLD junior champion. In the late 90s Chris moved to the dominant Victory Club and was a member of their all conquering SQ light gear team in the late 90s and early 00s. During this time, Chris also captured 1 Club Championship and won the prestigious Bream Shield twice in QLD competitions, and was runner-up QLD estuary champion.
Gary Brown
Back in the early sixties I start fishing the Georges River and Botany Bay for bream, flathead, luderick and whiting, progressing to the Port Hacking and Woronora Rivers, adding leatherjackets, crabs, tailor, mullet and mulloway to the list. The fishing I enjoy the most currently includes beach, rock fishing, estuary and inshore boat fishing. I have also recently started tournament fishing for bream and flathead with some high placings in ABT events under the Team Pflueger banner.
Neil Shultz
First developed an interest in fishing after seeing the shiny lures for sale on the wall of the local bicycle shop & was self taught. I caught & released my first fish on a lure in 1969 and that started a life long passion for the sport. I greatly enjoy all forms of lure fishing, spin, troll, jig, whatever. Got seriously involved in fly fishing in the mid-eighties and have successfully flyfished species from trout to Murray cod and barramundi in freshwater and from flathead to longtail tuna in the salt.
Pat Sullivan
Since the first ABT BREAM classic in 2004 I have been a regular at both classic and qualifier events. I have been fortunate to fish with and meet a lot of great guys and anglers though these events. As an individual my highest achievement was winning the 2008 St Helens ABT BREAM qualifier in quite testing conditions. To stick to a game plan and catch fish when they were hard to come by was extremely satisfying.
Robert Kwiatkowski
Rob has always been a keen fisherman. From growing up fishing the banks of Lake Jindabyne for trout and spending weekends on Russel Island fishing with his father to spending most weekends on the water fishing with artificial lures. Being a competitive person, Rob joined Victory Amateur Fishing Club in 1998. During his seven years with the club, he won the Victory Amateur Fishing Reserve Grade, B Grade and A Grade Championships. He has also won the Alvey Angling Excellence Award in 2001. Rob has been a member of numerous South East Queensland winning teams in both surf and estuary fishing.
Scott Towner
I started fishing at an early age whilst holidaying on the Hawkesbury River with my family. I caught my first fish when I was six and have been 'hooked' ever since. Every weekend was spent fishing for Trout or Bass throughout my childhood and into adulthood.
Stephen Kaniowsky
I grew up fishing and crabbing in the waters of Cabbage Tree Creek at Shorncliffe. In the early days I gained as much pleasure from gathering bait as from fishing itself.
Mark ‘The Captain’ Phillips
As a kid I would ride my bike to Toukley bridge where my weekends and holidays were spent fishing for flathead, bream and tailor on the bridges rickety timber walkway. I soon developed an interest in all things with finns and scales that has driven me to pursue all manner of species from bass to billfish over the last 30 years. I love all forms of fishing and now share many of my child hood experiences such as catching Garfish with my five year old daughter.
Brad Hodges
Since before I can remember I have been anchored to the banks of a river or lake with a rod in hand. My Dad first introduced me to fishing through the collection of fresh bait, we would spend hours pumping sandworms or catching minnows. Then we would use them to catch Bream and Redfin from the Werribee River. When I was about 10 I progressed to coarse fishing for Trout, Roach and Carp. I owe a lot to my coarse fishing days as they really helped honed my skills in using ultra light line and it taught me a lot about finesse fishing techniques.
Mark 'Mango' Mangold
My early memories were chasing Bass in the lower reaches of the Nepean River from horse back casting into the small rock pools. I was always amazed of the size of the fish from the smallest pools. I have always been involved in competitive sports and after a long and successful stint Wood Chopping I decided to combine my passion for fishing with my competitive nature on the Tournament circuit.
Shayne Dyason
I first started fishing aged 3 when my dad used to drag me out snapper fishing on Port Phillip Bay in an old clinker hull, it was there I caught my first fish, a snapper, and my love of fishing began. During my teens I spent every spare moment I could in East Gippsland and on the New South Wales south coast fishing the estuaries for bream and perch, and when conditions would allow I would be out tackling tuna and kingfish.
