Since before I can remember I have been anchored to the banks of a river or lake with a rod in hand. My Dad first introduced me to fishing through the collection of fresh bait, we would spend hours pumping sandworms or catching minnows. Then we would use them to catch Bream and Redfin from the Werribee River. When I was about 10 I progressed to coarse fishing for Trout, Roach and Carp. I owe a lot to my coarse fishing days as they really helped honed my skills in using ultra light line and it taught me a lot about finesse fishing techniques.
In 2004, like most people I got caught up in the soft plastic craze and began targeting Trout and Flathead. After watching the AFC and Berkley DVD featuring Adam Royter, my interest in catching Bream on lures started to grow. However it wasn’t until my wife entered me into my first Bream tournament without my knowledge and without me having ever caught a single Bream on a lure. And so started my passion and obsession for bream spinning.
Since my introduction to tournament fishing in 2006 as a non-boater I’ve been on an extremely steep learning curve with every tournament arena presenting its own challenges. In that time I have been lucky enough to experience some tournament success, I’ve won 4 events including the 2007 Vic Bream Classic Grand Final and have had over 10 top ten results.
